There are remarkable resemblances with the recipes used in the Thesaurus of Gramsbergen and Ayurveda, the art-science of health care, from India. This ancient writings from the 17th century shows us that there was much exchange in medicinal knowledge between the far East and the West. After careful reading and pondering over the description of the diseases it seems that the information shared was from first hand. Not only the information, also the herbs and spices used in the formulas must come from India. Most of the recipes included tropical plants what is originally not growing in the Netherlands.
